About the event
Join us for our 2022 Hack for Community Impact event, here at Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School.Â
All high school students are welcome to join this fun and interactive event, over 2.5 days in the September school holidays.Â
With on-site boarding facilities, why not stay in Cribb House, and participate in fun evening activities, too!
What is a Hackathon event?Â
It’s an opportunity for students to work together to produce innovative solutions to everyday challenges they face as young people in our community. In groups of six to eight students, they use problem-solving techniques to work towards finding solutions and creating a positive impact on their wider community.Â
Students participate in ‘short sprints’ to define the problem, target audience, solution and identify any barriers to overcome in order for their solution to be successful.Â
Students work individually to generate ideas, then as a group decide on the best ideas to develop their final group pitch.Â
The final pitch gives students an opportunity to convince an expert panel that their solution is worth investing in.
Facilitator: Peta Ellis, Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence Who can participate: High school students both male and female in Years 7 to 12. Contact: Ms Jodie Hyde, Digital Pedagogy & Innovation Coordinator jhyde@iggs.qld.edu.au
